Hoping to continue the success of last year, the Warwick Archers headed to Loughborough University for the first BUTTS competition of a packed season. There were quite a few new faces as this years novices tried their hand at their first ever archery competition and new experienced members competed with us for the first time.
Team Warwick shot their way to victory with the Novice Team (Sophie Davies, Hubert Naguszewski, Ranya Younis, Alex Collins) coming third overall with a score of 1423 and the Experienced Non-Compound Team (William Pike, James Gardner, Enrik Nako, Sherman Ip) taking Gold with a score of 2313, a good 30 points ahead of second place.
Individually, there were plenty of medals for UWAC. Warwick cleaned the top three places for Gents Recurve with Enrik Nako coming third with a score of 578, James Gardner edging ahead to take second with 579, and William Pike taking the gold with a score of 582. Sherman Ip also performed well and ranked fifth place.
Newcomer Kai Thomas-Prause took home gold in the Gents Compound with a score of 583.
In the Ladies Recurve, Jodie Green finished 4th with a score of 558 and Sarah Allaway finished 5th with as score of 546. For Barebow, Megan Purchase took home gold with a score of 469 and Sam Armstrong finished 2nd for Longbow.
In the Novice Gent Recurves, Alex Collins shot well and ended on a score of 306. Hubert Naguszewski came 1st in the Novice gents Barebow and Rens Van Velzen came 4th in the same category.
Novice Lady Recurve Sophie Davies came joint first with Leigh Hewitt of Birmingham, with the same score, hits and golds! Ranya Younis, Eleanor Hughes and Nicole Brough all put in solid scores for the Ladies Recurves.
Overall, the day was very successful and we hope to continue our success at the next leg happening next weekend.
