Throughout the year the club runs and participates in a variety of competitions. These range from internal events to national BUCS competitions, and other external events. Below you can find some information about the different student archery competitions we take part in, as well as information about competitions we host.

The Warwick Open Novice Tournament - W.O.N.T.

Warwick hosts its own archery competition, the Warwick Open Novice Tournament (or "W.O.N.T." for short). This is aimed at archers in their first year of archery to give them competition experience, and is typically held towards the end of Term 1.

Club Competitions

Each term we hold an internal club competition, allowing all members of the club to take part. This provides members with experience in a competition setting, as well as the opportunity to win a plethora of trophies, glory and chocolate.

In terms 1 and 2, we shoot the Portsmouth indoor round (60 arrows, 60cm target face, 20yd) or WA 18m indoor round (60 arrows, 40cm target face, 18m). Outdoors we typically shoot a WA 720, followed by some head to head matches.

BUCS

During both terms 2 and 3 there are the national BUCS championship events. The indoor championships run in Term 2, while the outdoor championships take place toward the end of Term 3. We send a team of both novices and experienced archers to compete for medals, trophies and BUCS points for the university.

BUCS Indoors

The BUCS archery indoor championships are usually held in February and March, and consists of regional qualifiers followed by a national final. The qualifiers in recent years have been a Portsmouth round, while finals have been a WA 18m round followed by head to head matches.

In recent history, Warwick has achieved team podiums as well as individual medals.

BUCS Outdoors

BUCS outdoor championships are held at Lilleshall NSC across two days.

Warwick is historically very successful at this event, winning a number of both individual and team medals.

BUTTS Regional League

Throughout terms 1 and 2 we compete in the BUTTS League. A team of both novices and experienced archers are taken to other universities to shoot for medals and league points. This culminates in an indoors championships and ball near the end of Term 2, where results are given and rewards for achievement in the past year are handed out.

The other universities that are part of our division in the BUTTS league are:

BUTTS Badges

Another part of the BUTTS League are the reward badges available for shooting. These are given out to archers who shoot a score at or above the threshold for a badge, and are coloured to match the rings on a target face. The badge thresholds can be found here.

BUTC

BUTC offers a change of pace in the student archery world. Its a fast-paced hit or miss tournament where the spectators can be almost as involved as the archers themselves! Usually hosted towards the end of February, Warwick sends up to two teams of 3 archers to take part in this tournament.

E-League

In addition to everything above, the club participates in a nationwide league hosted online, where our best scores of the month are submitted. This is run by the UK Student Archery Association (UKSAA). Results for this league and other student events can be found here.
