Warwick Open Novice Tournament (or WONT for short) happened last year on the 3rd December. This year, for its third year of running, the event attracted 64 entrants (people who shot on the day) from 6 different clubs. The round was a Portsmouth (60 arrows at 20 yards).
Southampton’s Lukas Bastow and Harry Moncrieff Macmillan took 1st and 2nd place with respective respectable scores of 467 and 464 in the gents recurve category. James Gardener from Warwick came in at third with 441 in the same category.
In the open ladies recurve category (entrants not linked to a university club) Caroline Williams came top with a score of 502, Tracey Gibson from Meriden 2nd with 476 and in 3rd, Jiazheng Sun with 446. In the University Female Recurve category our very own Rebecca Bedford came 1st with a PB of 419. Following her in 2nd and 3rd place, also from Warwick, Sumina Kasuji and Serena Russell with respective scores of 384 and 366.
The gents barebow category saw Mark Peart and William Croydon come in 1st and 2nd with scores of 427 and 424, building up their barebow army we see! Nottingham’s Eleanor Corish came top in the female barebow category with a score of 379! This year we had a varied form of bow styles; gent compound Zhen Yuan Gary from Nottingham with a score of 506 and Vincent Siah also from Nottingham, a longbow archer score 238. We had a junior gent recurve, Monty Orton with a score of 424.
