This year, 18 University of Warwick archers competed in the BUCS Outdoor Championships hosted at Lilleshall National Sports Centre on the 10th-11th June. The weekend was a successful one, with UWAC securing podium positions in both Team and Individual categories despite the challenging weather conditions that persisted throughout.
Firstly, the Ladies Experienced Non-Compound Team won Bronze with a combined score of 2916, comprising of Hannah Burnage (1067), Emma Davis (1027) and Jess Watts (822). Also taking Bronze were the Experienced Gents Non-Compound Team made up of James Jeffs (1095), Enrik Nako (1054) and Sherman Ip (1137), giving a total score of 3286.
The Novice Non-Compound Team enjoyed a particularly successful weekend, winning Gold with a BUCS record-breaking combined score of 3273. The Team included Sarah Allaway (1119), Sam Armstrong (1124) and James Gardner (1030) - all of whom also achieved individual podium positions! Sarah Allaway won Gold in the Novice Ladies Recurve category, while for the Novice Gents Recurve Sam Armstrong won Gold and James Gardner was awarded Bronze.
All in all, a strong performance all around and especially from UWAC’s novices, whom we hope will transition smoothly into becoming experienced archers with the club and continue their success!
